nt matter & 2007 007.08.001 thor. [email protected] Summary Fracture healing is a complex and well orchestrated regenerative process, initiated in response to injury, resulting in optimal skeletal repair and restoration of skeletal function. Fracture healing remains to a great extent an unknown cascade, and recent developments in molecular biology have helped us to better understand the fracture healing cellular and molecular pathways. In this paper, we summarize the current knowledge of the most important molecules involved in the sequence of events during fracture healing, and we also focus on the latest research findings that will play important roles in the near future in better understanding fracture healing at the molecular level. & 2007 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

I-34: Interactorme of Human Embryo Implan Implantation:Pathways,Networks

Background: A prerequisite for successful embryo implantation is adequate preparation of receptive endometrium and the establishment and maintenance of a viable embryo. The success of implantation further relies upon a two-way dialogue between the embryo and uterus. However, molecular bases of these preimplantation and implantation processes in humans are not well known. Materials and Methods: ...

The genetic profile of bone repair.

Bone repair following a fracture is a complex, well orchestrated, physiological process in response to injury. Even though the exact number of the genes and expressed proteins involved in fracture healing remains unknown, the molecular complexity of the repair process has been demonstrated, and it involves numerous genes and molecules, such as extracellular matrix genes, growth and differentiat...

I-7: Maternal Signalling to the Placenta

Background: Though it is well established that maternal blood-borne signals influence highly the growth of the placenta, the mechanisms are not known. In vitro trophoblast culture models are limited by an inability to reconstruct the polarised bilayer of the human hemochorial placenta. We have used a first trimester villous tissue explant system to investigate how growth factors interact with p...

Treatment of a Mandibular Fracture by Two Perpendicular Mini-Plates

Introduction: In open reduction and internal fixation for the treatment of mandibular fracture, the fixation technique used is very important in reducing post-operative complications and promoting the healing process. This study assessed the results of fixation of the mandible using two mini-plates perpendicular to each other in the lower border of the mandible for fracture treatment.    Materi...

Signalling Pathways Implicated in Obesity Associated Cancers

Intensive research over recent years has provided irrefutable evidence of links between obesity and the risk of an increasing number of human cancers. The predicted economic burden is causing significant concern. This has prompted investigation of the underlying mechanisms with a focus on deregulated metabolic pathways. A number of metabolic processes and associated signalling pathways are asso...
